Conferences
There have been several conferences organised within the framework of the network:
- 2001: A Must or a Muse
- 2004: Culture and School
- 2009: CICY, International conference on Cultural education, Innovation, Creativity and Youth
- 2010: Teacher and Artist Training (which was part of the OMC working group on Synergies between culture, education, especially art education)

Meeting organized in the context of the Co-Presidency of Finland and Åland of the Nordic Council of Ministers, during the Nordic Diversity Connections In Arts and Culture Seminar (6–8 October 2025).
May 2025 – Cardiff (Wales)
Meeting organized in the context of celebrating 10 years Creative learning in Wales.
November 2024 – Edinburgh (Scotland)
Focus: How can Arts Education contribute to Peace and Sustainability?
April 2024 – Antwerp (Belgium)
The main topic of this ACEnet meeting is the new UNESCO Framework for Culture and Arts Education, as adopted on the World Conference (Abu Dhabi, February 13th – 15th).
Discussion: roles of teachers and educators in arts and cultural education.
November 2023 – Caldas da Rainha (Portugal)
The main topic of this meeting is connected to the topic of the conference Arts and culture education and Democracy.

October 2019 – Dortmund (Germany)
The ACEnet meeting in Dortmund focused on sharing European perspectives on arts education, strengthening collaboration, and developing future actions to improve cultural learning, policy, and participation.
May 2019 – Kaunas (Lithuania)
The ACEnet meeting in Kaunas focused on understanding national approaches to arts education—particularly Lithuania’s system—comparing European policies, and strengthening collaboration to improve monitoring, advocacy, and integration of arts education across countries.

The ACEnet meeting in Estonia focused on sharing national approaches to arts and cultural education, developing tools to monitor progress through the Seoul Agenda, and strengthening cooperation between policy, research, and practice across Europe.
November 2016 – Cardiff (Wales)
The ACEnet meeting in Cardiff focused on integrating creativity into education through policy and practice, with a strong emphasis on quality, evaluation, and the role of arts education in improving learning and inclusion.
May 2016 – Stockholm (Sweden)
The ACEnet meeting in Stockholm focused on strengthening the role of arts education in European policy through cross-sector collaboration, sharing national practices, and advancing the implementation of cultural awareness and expression in education.
November 2015 – Edinburgh (Scotland)
The ACEnet meeting in Edinburgh focused on strengthening the network’s strategy, promoting youth voice in arts education, and enhancing collaboration across policy, research, and practice in Europe.

Focus: Raising awareness of arts and cultural education.
October 2013 – Brussels (Belgium)
The ACEnet meeting in Brussels focused on examining the impact of arts education on learning (via OECD research) and sharing concrete practices on artist–school collaboration and curriculum development.
May 2013 – Wildbad Kreuth (Germany)
The ACEnet meeting in Wildbad Kreuth focused on developing strategies to “provoke” political and societal awareness of arts education, building the network’s manifesto, and identifying priorities such as linking arts education to social, economic, and European policy agendas.
October 2012 – Ghent (Belgium)
The ACEnet meeting in Ghent focused on identifying concrete strategies to raise the political relevance of arts education—especially through research evidence, storytelling, media engagement, and alignment with economic, social, and EU policy agendas.
April 2012 – Copenhagen (Denmark)
The ACEnet meeting in Copenhagen focused on redefining the network’s role and strategy, particularly by strengthening links to EU and UNESCO agendas and developing practical methods (learning, sharing, provoking) to influence arts education policy.
April 2011 – Antwerp (Belgium)
The ACEnet meeting in Antwerp focused on deciding to relaunch and restructure the network, defining its goals, membership, and links to EU and UNESCO agendas in order to strengthen its relevance for arts education policy
